In Uganda, it appears the boycott of parliament by opposition members is getting intense. The Speaker of parliament told the boycotters to start attending parliamentary proceedings or be excluded from all of the business of parliament, including sporting events outside the country. The opposition began its boycott last month to protest what they say is the government’s failure to account for their supporters whom they alleged are being held by security forces. Mathias Mpuuga, the opposition leader in parliament, tells VOA’s James Butty, what the Speaker says is not rooted in Ugandan law.
