Sudan Prosecutes Ex-Prime Minister, Anti-War Leaders [5:39]

Sudan’s Public Prosecution office initiated criminal proceedings on Wednesday against former Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok, as well as other leaders from the anti-war civilian coalition Taqadum, politicians, political party leaders and journalists. The charges range from inciting war against the state to crimes against humanity, offenses punishable by death under Sudanese law. Taqadum, which has been working to end the conflict between the Sudan Armed Forces and the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces, signed a memorandum of understanding with RSF leader General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo early this year in Addis Ababa to end the now one-year-old conflict. Nabeel Biajo reached Bakri el-Madani, spokesperson for Taqadum, who dismissed the charges and questioned the legitimacy of Sudan’s military-led government.
