As the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army commemorates its 41st anniversary today, voices from within the movement question its legacy. Despite key roles played by many South Sudanese women during the 21-year fight for independence from Sudan, concerns have risen over the Movement's failure to adequately support widows, orphans and the women who fought for independence.
