A high court in Pretoria, South Africa Monday declared as invalid President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recognition of Zulu King MisuZulu kaZwelithini. According to the Mail & Guardian newspaper in South Africa, a group of royals, including the king’s uncle and half-brother, had challenged his installation on grounds that President Ramaphosa did not follow the terms of the Traditional Leadership Act. A spokesperson was quoted as saying the president is studying the ruling. Professor Sipho Seepe, a political analyst and former Deputy Vice Chancellor for Institutional Support at the University of Zululand, tells VOA’s James Butty , the court’s decision is a major embarrassment for President Ramaphosa.
