Sierra Leone President Calls November 26 Violence 'Unambiguously an Attempted Coup'
Sierra Leonean President Julius Bio said on Saturday investigations into the deadly clashes on November 26 show the events were "clearly and unambiguously an attempted coup." "Investigations conducted so far by our security and intelligence community strongly indicate that the November 26 infraction was clearly and unambiguously an attempted coup d'Etat," Bio said in a speech to the nation. Armed attackers had stormed a military armory, two barracks, two prisons and two police stations, confronting security forces leaving 21 people dead, including 14 soldiers.
