Massive Corruption in SSudan Oil Company: Report [4:16]
A report released last week by The Sentry accuses South Sudan-based Trinity Energy Limited of massive corruption in an oil-backed loan that involves Cairo-based African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and the government of South Sudan. The investigative report carried out over three years says arrangements around a series of $30 million loans to purchase diesel and gasoline to sell to the South Sudan market in 2018 raise red flags for bribery, tax evasion and money laundering. The Sentry called for an investigation into all corrupt oil deals in South Sudan and the sanctioning of implicated individuals and entities. VOA's John Tanza spoke with Biswick Tiyamalu Kaswaswa, a former employee of Trinity and self-described whistleblower, in part one of this three-part interview.
