Report: 90% of African countries score below 50 on 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index
The 2024 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) highlights that corruption remains a critical issue worldwide, with sub-Saharan Africa averaging the lowest score at 33 out of 100. Ninety percent of countries in the region scored below 50, but the Seychelles, Cabo Verde, Botswana and Rwanda scored above that. Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Somalia and South Sudan were rated among the lowest. VOA's Paul Ndiho spoke with Sombo Muzata, assistant professor at James Madison University, about the report's findings.
