Political parties in Mali have launched plans for campaigns following the transitional government's announcement that elections will be held next year. For Nightline Africa, VOA's Peter Clottey spoke to Salif Tigana, CEO of Tiganatechnology, about concerns over stability ahead of elections.

In Mali, political parties have launched plans to begin campaigning ahead of next year's general election. This, following the transitional government's announcement that presidential and parliamentary elections will be held on February 27, 2022. But local media groups report reaction has been mixed. They say some Malians want a delay to ensure the political and security situation is conducive before the elections are organized. Others, however, say they welcome the announcement since, they contend, it will lead to legitimately elected leaders to administer the affairs of the country. For more about the latest developments following the announcement of the date for elections next year, VOA's Peter Clottey reached Salif Tigana, CEO of Tiganatechnology in the Malian capital, Bamako.
