Liberian Women's Rights Activist Fights for Political Equity
Liberia, previously the first country in Africa to elect a woman as president, still struggles with female underrepresentation in politics, says women’s rights activist Facia Boyenoh Harris. Despite making up half the populace, there are only two women senators compared to 28 men, and seven women in the House of Representatives compared to 64 men. VOA’s James Butty spoke to Harris, the 2022 recipient of the International Women of Courage Award, on her award and women leadership in Liberia.
