Liberian President Fires Telecommunications Minister

Liberian President George Weah has fired the country’s Post and Telecommunications Minister, Cooper Kruah. Last Friday, Kruah attended a ceremony at which former Vice President Joseph Boakai picked Senator Jeremiah Koung as his presidential running mate for the October 2023 elections. Kruah and Koung are from Nimba County and members of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction party of Senator Prince Johnson. Senator Johnson tells VOA’s James Butty , the sacking of Kruah is a political retaliation by President Weah.
