Liberia’s Young Aviator Ends Historic Solo Flight
update
A young pilot of Liberian descent landed Thursday in his native Liberia after flying solo from North America to Africa in a single-engine plane. Thirty-seven-year-old Abner Yonly began his solo flight on October 27 in the US state of Maryland. He made stops in Canada, Greenland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, the United Kingdom, France, and Spain, Morocco, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. Abner tells VOA’s James Butty, he was overwhelmed by the number of people that came to greet him at the airport.
