Liberia’s Electoral Body Set For Presidential Runoff
update
Liberians vote Tuesday in a runoff election between President George Weah of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and former Vice President Joseph Boakai of the main opposition Unity Party. In the October 10 first-round vote, Weah narrowly beat Boakai 43.83 percent to 43.44 percent. There were a few problems associated with the first round of the polls, including 114 thousand invalid votes nationwide. National Elections Commission (NEC) chair Davidetta Browne-Lansannah tells VOA’s James Butty, everything is in place for Tuesday’s runoff.
