LGBT Ugandans Face Backlash as Parliament Probe Schools
LGBTQ Ugandans say discrimination against them have heightened since the country's legislature launched an investigation into the alleged promotion of homosexuality in schools last month. Eric Ndawula, a 26-year-old LGBTQ activist, said his landlord has issued him an eviction notice after a video of him being identified as gay went viral. Activists say vitriolic language used by officials to justify the investigation, including recent anti-gay comments by President Yoweri Museveni and the head of Uganda's Anglican Church, have had far-reaching consequences. Ugandan Information Minister Chris Baryomunsi did not respond to Reuters request for comment about the impact of the probe.
