Poor communities most affected by Kenya floods
Lives and livelihoods have been affected by the recent floods in Kenya, which have killed more than 170 people and displaced an estimated 200, 000. Houses in flood-prone areas have been submerged, forcing many to seek refuge in schools and elsewhere. In response, Kenyan President William Ruto convened an emergency cabinet meeting to strategize the government's response. However, many in the affected areas say not enough is being done to assist them. VOA's Paul Ndiho spoke with Jack Oduor, a community organizer in Mathare informal settlement in Nairobi, about how the floods have impacted his community.
