India's 'Sinking' Himalayan Town Raises Concerns
In India, hundreds of people have been evacuated from their homes in a Himalayan town where officials say the land is sinking. The residents of the town in North India have been in panic since cracks developed in hundreds of houses and on many streets. Distressed families in Joshimath have been moving their belongings out of their homes after officials said the land in the area is slowly sinking. Experts say the crisis underlines the risks posed by unsustainable development in a fragile mountain region as Anjana Pasricha reports.
