Gambia Pledges to Honor ECOWAS Court Ruling
The Gambian government says it will honor the ruling of the Court of Justice of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The court ruled on July 5th that Gambia must pay $110,000 to the daughter of a Gambian citizen and a critic of former President Yahya Jammeh, who disappeared while on a visit to the Casamance region. The court agreed with Nana-Jo N’dow that her father’s right to life was violated. Meanwhile, the Gambian government also says it accepts the US government’s expulsion of three Gambian diplomats for alleged visa fraud.
