FESPACO honors African filmmakers in Ouagadougou
Burkinabe capital hosted the 29th Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) last week. Burkinabe director Dani Kouyaté won the Golden Stallion of Yennenga for his feature film "Katanga, the Dance of the Scorpions". Somalian filmmaker Mo Harawe won second prize with his film “The village next to paradise” and Rungano Nyoni from Zambia won their prize with his film “On becoming a guinea fowl”. One of the films competing in the feature documentary category is by Malian director Fousseyni Maiga. His film, Fatow ou les Fous, explores the importance of culture in Mali’s development through the narratives of four madmen. From Ouagadougou, Kader Traoré reports.
