Faithfuls continue prayers for Pope Francis

Hundreds of hospital staff holding umbrellas walked down the Via della Conciliazione, a road leading up to St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican, praying for Pope Francis. The pilgrimage was part of the Jubilee Audience with the pope, which was cancelled after he had been in hospital for just over two weeks fighting double pneumonia. The Vatican's recent update describes the pope's condition as "alert and lucid," and that in the afternoon he "received the Eucharist, then devoted himself to prayer."
