Ethnic Violence in Sudan's Darfur Region Prompts Concern
United Nations officials say fighting in Sudan’s Darfur region — the scene of the early 2000s genocidal war — has morphed into ethnic violence, with the paramilitary, RSF, and allied Arab militias accused of targeting ethnic Africans in the western region. The U.N has also accused the Sudanese military of human rights violations, both forces have rejected the allegations. For more, VOA’s Mohamed Elshinnawi spoke to Joseph Siegle, director of research at Africa Center for Strategic Studies, who discussed the different scenarios of the conflict in Sudan, including a possibility of a revival of its dark history in Darfur.
