Disinformation in Africa Became a Fundamental Challenge to Stability

A recent study by the Africa Center for Strategic Studies covering recent years showed that the proliferation of disinformation is a fundamental challenge to stable and prosperous African societies. The study also showed that the scope of these intentional efforts to distort the information environment for a political end is accelerating with 189 documented disinformation campaigns in Africa nearly quadruple the number reported in 2022. Joseph Siegle, director of research at the center discussed the findings of the study with VOA’s senior analyst Mohamed Elshinnawi.
