China Seeks to Expand Digital Influence in Africa
China is actively pushing for a strong presence in the developing world with an eye on Africa and South America. The Asian giant is pursuing engagements on energy, digital infrastructure, and access to markets on both continents. VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Paul Nantulya, a research associate at the Africa Center for Strategic Studies in Washington on what the African continent would stand to gain, or lose, with expanded Chinese influence in digital sectors.
