The National Council for Negro Women (NCNW), a U.S.-based organization dedicated to championing the cause of women of African descent, says it is committed to reengaging the continent to promote shared interests and values. The nonprofit organization was set up in 1935 with a mission to "advance the opportunities and the quality of life for African American women, their families, and communities."  As part of VOA's coverage of Black History Month in the U.S., reporter Ignatius Annor visited the organization's headquarters in Washington.  Annor and Shavon Arline-Bradley, president and CEO of the council, discussed a wide range of issues, including environmental justice, police brutality on Black men and calls for police reform.
