Award-Winning Congolese Visual Artist in Atlanta Talks About Inspirations
Congolese visual artist Raphael Bahindwa moved from Kinshasa to Atlanta to study art in 2021 and was named the Atlanta Artist of the Year just one year later. VOA’s Jackson Mvunganyi met with the artist on a recent visit to Atlanta to see Bandiwa’s exhibit titled “Little Kings.” Bandiwa said he wants to use his art to bring awareness to child labor and the plight of thousands of informal child miners in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
