Auma Obama applauds Kenya youth for protests, urges lawmakers to listen
Auma Obama, the sister to former U.S. President Barack Obama and a prominent Kenyan activist who was part of the people teargassed last week by police in the East African nation, says she applauds young protesters in Nairobi, Mombasa and other parts of the country. Over the past week, they took to the streets to speak against attempts to raise taxes, alleged poor governance and to ensure that President William Ruto and his administration are held to account. For more on the protests and ongoing demands by Kenyans, VOA’s Peter Clottey spoke to Auma Obama.
