Analysis: US Evacuates Non-Essential Staff from Haiti as Violence Worsens
The United States over the weekend evacuated U.S. Embassy staff from the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, as gang violence escalated in the city and across the country. Last week, the gangs freed thousands of inmates in two large prisons in the capital and warned the country's prime minister, Ariel Henry, against setting foot in the country. For the latest developments in Haiti, VOA’s Esther Githui-Ewart spoke to Johanna Leblanc, a former senior advisor for the Haitian government and partner at the Adomi Advisory Group, PLLC.
