An analysis of the fall of the Assad regime in Syria

Israel pounded Syria with dozens of airstrikes on Monday and early Tuesday after the fall of President Basha al Assad, who fled to Russia over the weekend. Joseph Siegle, Director of Research at the Africa Center for Strategic Studies of the National Defense University tells VOA’s Carol Van Dam the Assad regime was hollow, and it could no longer rely on Russia for military support.
