Amnesty International is calling for the immediate release of South Sudanese government critic Morris Mabior Awikjok Bak, who has been detained by the National Security Service (NSS) for over 400 days. South Sudan's Minister of Justice has ordered Bak's release and the dropping of all charges. Arrested in Kenya in February 2023 and forcibly returned to South Sudan, Bak has been held at the National Security Service headquarters in Juba. Nabeel Biajo spoke with Sikula Oniala, a South Sudan researcher at Amnesty International, who condemns Bak’s incommunicado detention and alleged torture.
