Aklilu Temesgen uses Ethiopian 'Telsem' and 'Kitab' art
World renowned Ethiopian visual artist Aklilu Temesgen uses Ethiopian ‘Telsem’ and ‘Kitab’ artforms to explore themes of identity, culture, and tradition. The Washington DC based visual artist tells VOA's Jackson Mvunganyi that his paintings are a blend of contemporary techniques with traditional West African and East African motifs intending to invoke a sense of connection with the past while addressing present social issues.
