African heads of state urged to adopt ethical artificial intelligence practices
African heads of state have received an open letter from Africa AI Forum urging immediate action on responsible use of artificial intelligence. The Forum comprised by leaders in African AI Innovation highlight the software’s transformative potential in education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic growth. The letter, authored by 3 guding voices of the Africa AI Forum, warns of AI risks such as misinformation and worsening inequalities. Leaders are called to act decisively, ensuring artificial intelligence is harnessed for progress and not harm. VOA’s Auriane Itangishaka spoke to Jacques Bonjawo, the president of Africa AI Forum, and a signatory of the open letter on Africa's ethical ways using artificial intelligence.
