US lawmakers grill Trump’s pick for defense secretary during confirmation hearing

U.S. lawmakers who are part of the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC), a body which oversees legislative oversight of the nation’s military, including the Department of Defense, met Tuesday for a confirmation hearing of Pete Hegseth, a former broadcaster and veteran who was nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to be the next U.S. defense secretary.
