Why are weather patterns becoming more intense?

Cyclone Chido an intense storm last Saturday hit Mayotte, a French Indian Ocean archipelago. A phenomenon not experienced in the last 90 years. Some residents described it as an atomic blast. Authorities fear hundreds and possibly thousands of people may have died. Michael J. Allen a US Fulbright Scholar is Assistant Professor of Climatology, Geography and Environmental Planning at Towson University. In a conversation with VOA's Africa News Tonight Host Yeheyes Wuhib Professor Allen starts out by pointing some of the reasons why weather patterns around the globe are becoming more intense and ferocious lately.
