Voters were busy across the globe in 2024 and more than a dozen countries in Africa were among those staging presidential, parliamentary or local elections. While some long-time dominant ruling parties retained power in parts of Africa, incumbents suffered crushing defeats in others. VOA Nairobi Bureau Chief, Mariama Diallo, who covered a number of elections, looks into how democracy fared this year on the continent.
