Botswana’s opposition UDC attributes victory to economic messages
An official of Botswana’s opposition Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) coalition says the party won the October 30 election because its message of economic and democratic restoration resonated with the people. UDC candidate Duma Boko defeated President Mokgweetsi Masisi of the former ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) which has ruled the country for 58 years. Phenyo Butale is the secretary general of the UDC.
