International Monetary Fund Managing Director speaks with VOA
Next week, the World’s Finance Ministers and Central bank governors will converge in Washington D.C., for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Annual Meetings to discuss the state of the global economy and set policy priorities. In an interview with VOA’s Vincent Makori ahead of the meetings, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva discussed IMF's role and its contributions to sub-Saharan African economic stability, as the region grapples with slow growth, a crippling debt burden, conflicts, and severe drought.
