Nigeria’s ‘DTigress’ makes Olympic history

Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, also known by their alias “D’Tigress,” made history by being the first African team to advance to the quarterfinals of the Olympics, after they defeated Canada 79-70 in their final group match. The West African team was knocked out on Wednesday after they lost 88-74 to the U.S. women’s basketball team. Nonetheless, they received applause from African basketball fans for their performance in Paris. VOA’s Mike Hove and Muqbil Yabarow have more.
