Top commander of Sudan's Rapid Support Forces killed in north Darfur
Sudan's army said Friday it killed top Rapid Support Forces commander Ali Yagoub Gibril during a battle in the besieged north Darfur city of al-Fashir. Suliman Baldo, a widely recognized expert on conflict resolution, tells VOA’s Carol Van Dam that it is a short-term victory for the Sudanese army but does not bring the two sides any closer to ending the war.
