Sierra Leone’s Bar Association poll candidate seeks cancellation of results
There was drama over the weekend at the leadership election of the Bar Association of Sierra Leone. In videos sent to VOA, ballots could be seen strewn all over the smoke-filled hall floor, and there was a heavy police presence. Presidential Candidate Wara Serry-Kamal says the election was stolen with the help of Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission chief, Francis Ben Kaifala, who presided over the process. She tells VOA’s James Butty the results should be annulled, and fresh elections held to restore the Bar Association’s image.
