Clashes around Al-Fashir in Sudan's North Darfur State have escalated, raising concerns of a new surge in civilian casualties and humanitarian risks. Despite the year-long conflict between the Sudan Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces engulfing Darfur, Al-Fashir had remained relatively shielded until now.
