British Athlete Was Kidnapped in the DRC on Solo Africa Marathon
After running the length of Africa, British extreme athlete Russ Cook said he only considered quitting once during his nearly year-long odyssey — after he got kidnapped in the DRC by a gang armed with machetes. Before arriving Sunday at Ras Angela Tunisia from his solo trip around the continent, the 27-year-old passed through Namibia, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania and Algeria. Angela Johnston of Reuters has this report.
