For years, Nigeria’s agricultural stakeholders have been seeking a solution to the conflict between farmers and herders. Drought, desertification, deforestation and climate change in northern Nigeria have forced pastoralist herdsmen to move to the south in search of grazing lands. This movement has led to the loss of over 60,000 lives, according to the Nigeria’s House of Representatives’ speaker. To address this issue, an agro-pastoral project was launched in Kano, establishing settlements, grazing areas and milk collection centers to prevent pastoralist herders from clashing with farmers.
