Guinea Unions Demand Freedom For Media Official
In Guinea Conakry, this week’s planned talks between labor unions and the government did not materialize. The unions are demanding the unconditional release of Sekou Pendessa, the Secretary General of the Union of Press Professionals of Guinea, and other issues, including a reduction in the cost of living. Meanwhile, the government has banned the country’s mayors from traveling outside the country. Daouda Mohamed Camara, editor-in-chief at Espace FM, tells VOA’s James Butty, unions plan to go on strike if their demands are not met.
