The Biden administration has imposed sanctions on three Sudanese companies implicated in exacerbating conflict in the battered northeast African nation. Alkhaleej Bank, Al-Fakher Advanced Works and Zadna International Co for Development are accused of undermining peace, security and stability by providing financial support to the warring parties. The U.S. Department of the Treasury emphasized in its statement on Wednesday that "The conflict in Sudan continues, in part, due to key individuals and entities that help fund the continuation of the violence,” . To delve deeper into the implications of these sanctions, VOA's Nabeel Biajo interviewed Bakri el-Madani, an associate professor of economics at Long Island University.
