Senegalese Court Set to Rule on Opposition Sonko's Candidacy
update
A Senegalese court heard arguments Tuesday whether opposition leader Ousmane Sonko name should be put back on the electoral list of candidates for the 2024 presidential polls. His name was removed earlier this year after he was convicted for having sex with a minor. Sonko has said that the charges against him were all politically motivated to keep him from running for president. Nafissa Dia, a member of Sonko’s PASTEF party, tells VOA’s James Butty, the court said it will deliver its ruling tomorrow Thursday.
