Amnesty International: Ethnic Attacks in West Darfur's Ardamata [6:00]
Amnesty International reports that survivors and witnesses of a series of “ethnically motivated attacks” by the Rapid Support Forces, RSF, and allied Arab militias in Ardamata, West Darfur earlier this month, described harrowing scenes. According to the London-based watchdog, the attacks commenced early in November when the RSF initiated an assault on the Sudanese Armed Forces military base in Ardamata town. The paramilitaries allegedly targeted people primarily from the Masalit community and members of other non-Arab tribes. RSF advisor Yousif Izzat dismissed the accusations saying it was part of "a media campaign against the RSF.” For more, VOA’s Nabeel Biajo spoke with Abdullahi Hassan, Amnesty International's researcher.
