The city of Goma in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo was plunged into darkness Monday due to a power cut caused by fighting between DRC government forces, also known as FARDC, and M23 rebels. Virunga Energies Company did not know when the power would be restored. Reporter Al Katanty Sabiti Djaffar in eastern DRC tells VOA’s James Butty, the blackout means no electricity to hospitals and internally displaced people’s camps.
