Chad’s Opposition Leader Set to Return From Exile

An official of Chad’s opposition “Transformers” party says party leader Success Masra will likely return to Chad from exile by this weekend. Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix Tshisekedi announced this week that Masra had signed an agreement with Chad’s transitional government to return home. Tshisekedi is the facilitator of the Economic Community of Central African States for Chad’s transition process. Masra and other opposition officials fled the country last year during a government crackdown on protesters. Ndolembai Njesada, Transformers’ Vice President for Political Affairs and the Diaspora, tells VOA’s James Butty, the opposition wants a power-sharing role during Chad’s transition and to participate in the upcoming elections.
