South Africa Miners Emerge After Underground Sit-In
update
More than 500 miners at the Gold One Mine in Springs, South Africa, have resurfaced after spending three days underground. The National Union of Mineworkers, which is the officially recognized representative of workers at the mine, accuses a rival union of holding its members hostage to force the management to recognize it. However, as Thuso Khumalo reports from Springs, the rival group says the workers staged a voluntary sit-in to demand the recognition of their union of choice.
