Sierra Leone’s main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party has responded to VOA’s interview yesterday with President Julius Maada Bio. The president defended his re-election during the June 24 elections despite opposition claim of irregularities. Bio said he won the election convincingly and challenged the opposition to take their complaints to the country’s courts. He also denied his government has used the security forces to stifle protests. Sidie Yahya Tunis, APC national publicity secretary, tells VOA’s James Butty, the electoral commission violated certain laws before announcing the results. He also says the opposition has had bad experiences with the courts.
