Zimbabweans Living in South Africa Protest Election Outcome
Zimbabweans living in South Africa filled the streets on Friday in several cities, demonstrating and calling for a re-run of Zimbabwe’s Aug. 23 elections. Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa was declared the winner by the southern African nation’s election commission, a result disputed by the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change, CCC. The protesters gathering in Cape Town, Pretoria and Johannesburg objected to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s endorsement of Mnangagwa, demanding a new round of free and fair elections. Reporter Thuso Khumalo spoke to some of the protesters in Johannesburg.
