South Africa’s Ruling ANC Endorses Zimbabwe Elections
Fikile Mbalula, the secretary-general for South Africa’s ruling African National Congress, ANC, attended the inauguration of Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa to show solidarity for the re-election of their neighbor's head of state. Despite concerns expressed by Zimbabwe’s main opposition Citizens Coalition for Change, CCC, who reject Mnangagwa’s victory and are calling on the international community to mediate an election re-run, Mbalula said the ANC “believes in the will of the people,” adding “the people have spoken in Zimbabwe and today as you can see thousands of people are here to celebrate the election of the president.”
